02 – Quetiapine

QUETIAPINE IS AN ATYPICAL ANTIPSYCHOTIC THAT PROVED BENEFICIAL IN PATIENTS WITH MAJOR DEPRESSIVE DISORDER WHO DID NOT RESPOND ADEQUATELY TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF ANTIDEPRESSANTS.

Among the characteristics of Quetiapine, it stands out that it does not cause severe extrapyramidal symptoms. Quetiapine is available in immediate-release and extended-release (XR) formulations.

It is effective in reducing psychotic symptoms and stabilizing mood in patients with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Additionally, it can improve depressive symptoms when used as an adjunctive treatment.
